Train, Exchange and Support

Training is part of one of the values to which the Fondation Héron remains very attached. Indeed, nothing is more important to her than to build autonomy, to participate and encourage individual development in the service of the collective.

Learning is a state of mind: stay curious and awake. Learn in the field. Share your experience. Move from theory to action. Doing is ten times better than just saying.


22ND - 24TH OF NOVEMBER 2019

Following the observations of September, the Foundation, in agreement with the Rwandan Ministry of Health, engaged itself to operate on school children in need of eye surgery.

Thus, 3 ophthalmic surgeons (Pr G.Ben Simon, Dr H. Avizemer and Dr A. Abdalkader) were invited by the Foundation for three days, together with Dr Egide Gisagara and his team, to perform these operations at the CHUK hospital(Kigali University Hospital Center). The surgeons were able to work together during operations thus ensuring a rich sharing of know-how.

School transport, accommodation and operating costs were entirely covered. In addition, other children, patients of Rwandan doctors, were able to benefit from this care


the assises de nice

At the end of January 2020, the Fondation Héron invited two of its local partners, Drs.Josiane Umutoni and Aaron Gasore, to attend the Assises de Nice. This ENT - Audioprosthetist Congress is one of the most most expected event by the profession in the francophone world.

Around May 2020, an ENT unit and an audiometry unit, both acquired from the Robert Schuman and CHL Hospitals, were shipped to the Kibungo Reference Hospital. A team of 3 people went on site for the reception, setting up and training of Dr.Josianne Umutoni.

Beyond presentations, exchanges, training, etc. , this multifaceted Congress allowed our two ENT to meet and dialogue with other ENT from Belgium; France; Luxembourg and Switzerland …


Adaptation and support

After the first Covid-19 wave, towards the end of May, the Fondation in support of the Rwandan population, sent over 20,000 masks by air cargo, made available to local authorities in charge of pandemic management as requested by the Ministry of Health
